A little cat that had managed to survive the harsh life of the streets was now up against another difficult situation. There was uncertainty about whether he would survive the night, but a determined woman was set on rescuing him.
Shauna, a cat lover with the handle @ixluvxcats, shared Quincy’s heartwarming story. Quincy, a mere four weeks old, arrived at the Philadelphia city shelter in a pitiful state, malnourished and frail. The Noah’s Ark Rescue Project and Sanctuary (NARPS Cats) swooped in to rescue him, but the poor kitten was battling severe dehydration and fading fast.
In a race against time, Shauna, a dedicated volunteer of NARPS Cats, sprang into action, administering vital fluids to Quincy. Despite her best efforts, the tiny feline’s condition worsened, leaving him sprawled on his side, struggling to breathe with each gasp.
“It was a heartbreaking sight, and I feared he wouldn’t see the light of the next day. I stayed up all night, cradling him in my arms, hoping for a miracle,” Shauna recounted to Love Meow.
Shauna, who goes by @ixluvxcats online, didn’t give up on the sick kitten she was caring for. After giving him fluids and attempting to feed him, she cradled the lethargic feline in her arms, hoping to ease his discomfort. She didn’t have high hopes of him making it through the night, but she refused to throw in the towel.
To her surprise, the next morning the kitten was still hanging on, breathing and showing signs of life. “I immediately took him to an emergency vet, hoping they could offer some more help,” Shauna shared.
Shauna, who loves cats, took home a bag of prescribed medications and a grim prediction for the kitten’s future. However, just six hours later, she witnessed a miraculous change as the little cat used his newfound energy to sit up for the first time.
“Armed with some food and a syringe, I began feeding him and to my surprise, he was actually swallowing. Then, six hours later, when I tried feeding him again, he eagerly started lapping up the food from a bowl.”
Shauna, who goes by the username @ixluvxcats, made sure to give Quincy subcutaneous (SQ) fluids alongside his meals, day and night. After his meal, she would snuggle with him to provide warmth and comfort, showering him with love in the hopes that it would motivate him to keep up the fight.
Shauna, who goes by the username @ixluvxcats, shared an update on Quincy’s progress after a week of hard work. Quincy showed significant improvement as he regained his appetite, started drinking water on his own, and even began purring and playing with toys. “Witnessing a kitten bounce back like this feels nothing short of miraculous,” Shauna expressed.
Shauna, known as @ixluvxcats on social media, shared that in just a short span of two weeks, the little kitten not only gained an admirable 1/2 pound but also saw a remarkable threefold increase in his energy levels. Despite facing some tough times, Quincy showed his resilience and bounced back to become a sweet and affectionate cuddle-bug.
“It was heartwarming to see how he would instantly start purring the moment I approached his enclosure. Whenever I called out his name, he would excitedly start kneading the ground and purring loudly until I scooped him up,” Shauna recounted to Love Meow.

If his foster mom wasn’t around, he would snuggle up to his canine buddy, Jayne, to never feel lonely. Fast forward a month after his rescue, Quincy’s progress is truly heartwarming.
Shauna @ixluvxcats shared that Quincy stole the hearts of a couple looking to adopt. Once settled in his new home, Quincy wasted no time in snuggling up with his new family and purring contentedly.
